Biosepar ParasiTrap® System for transport  and processing of stool samples for parasitological examination.

The Biosepar transport and processing system for parasitological diagnostics has been developed by the research department of parasitology of the Max-von-Pettenkofer-Institute for Hygiene and Medical Microbiology, University of Munich. This concept can be applied in research and routine diagnostics and meets the highest standards. It also meets the recommendations of the Federal Board of Health in Europe and in the United States (CDC), of leading scientist in the field of parasitology, of laboratory physicians, microbiologist and epidemiologist for infectious diseases.
The following can be diagnosed: worm ovae, larvae and protozoa (cyst and vegetative forms) in the stool. But also parasites which reside in other body fluids (i.e. duodenal fluid or urine) can be preserved and then processed for diagnostics without any risk of bacterial proliferation or decomposition.
The morphology of the parasites which is essential for diagnosis will not be affected at all. Therefore, the Biosepar concept is also well suitable for quality control. It is used for human as well as for veterinary medicine.

We attached special importance to efficiency and its suitability for standardization. These represent the prerequisites for a diagnostic working method which is effective and covers the costs. The system is designed to be compatible with all current laboratory equipment and aids.
If not all of them are available, all the necessary examinations can still be performed after a time lag by the system itself. This fact is of special importance for the application in human and veterinary medical projects and epidemiological research in the Third World.
Although the Biosepar concept is based on the "MIFC" sedimentation method, it can also be used for the "flotation method".
